The Nest in Action | February

February has been a busy month at The Nest, as we hosted four back to back residentials from organisations across the UK. From grassroots teams to academy groups, we welcomed 85 people to train, play, eat and sleep at The Nest in what have all been memorable trips and experiences.

During half-term, we welcomed a group of players and coaches from Norwich City Academy to stay on site around their training and fixture schedule at the Avant Training Centre. Being only 20 minutes away, The Nest offers the perfect accommodation for groups visiting the Academy, whilst being able to make use of our Engage space to play games and relax during free time. Similarly, February also saw us welcome Doncaster Rovers Academy U18s who stayed with us for four days. Doncaster used the Nest for accommodation, meals and training as well as visiting the Avant Training Centre playing a fixture against Norwich City FC U18s.

Speaking about the experience Greg Carroll, Head of Academy Player Care, from Doncaster Rovers Academy said:

“Fantastic stay at a brilliant venue. Staff were polite and helpful in sorting out a few last minute changes, and all the food we had was fantastic. There were plenty of activities on offer in the Engage space too for our lads to enjoy during their down time. Would definitely return for another trip.”

Our Third visitors in February were a group of 30 students from the Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT), who stayed with us for 3 days, giving players from their Premier League Kicks Programme the opportunity to go away on tour.  Across their stay, our Norwich City Community Sports Foundation coaching team delivered workshops on Youth Voice, as well as a range of skills focussed football sessions and fixtures against some of our local Premier League Kicks participants. Across a memorable 3 days, we were proud to collaborate with CACT on delivering an informative, memorable and unique residential that engaged over 50 young people from London and Norfolk in sport and physical activity.

Finally, we welcomed LUCA FC who chose the Nest as their destination for a mid-season tour. LUCA started their visit with a Q&A at The Nest with Norwich City FC player Emiliano Marcondes, who offered insights into his career and advice for the group. LUCA FC’s tour also gave us the chance to offer unique fixture opportunities to teams within the local area, as we welcomed Sprowston FC and Fakenham Town EJA to take part in well contested matches, hosted here at The Nest. Finally, LUCA went to support the first team in their six-goal-thriller at Carrow Road vs Stoke City FC, topped off by being flag bearers before the game.

February’s residentials showcase the diversity of groups that utilise The Nest for a fun, professional and safe tour destination.
