Richard was among the first major donors for the campaign, which successfully raised its overall target of £4.6 million to complete construction of a new hub building and floodlit 3G pitch.

Ian underlined the importance of the early support from Richard for the success of the Build the Nest campaign and the future of the facility:

“When you first undertake a massive project like this, it is most difficult to achieve support in the early stages.

“Richard believed in what The Nest could and has become right from the beginning, and he believed in us to deliver it. For this we remain truly grateful.”

Richard’s support has extended beyond the Build the Nest campaign as he has been involved with several of the Foundation’s fundraising events.

A permanent reminder of his support can be found in the form of a paving stone bearing his name in the Walkway at The Nest, outside the main hub building.

Richard said:

“The Foundation’s vision for what The Nest could become pulled me in immediately: an inclusive and diverse venue that supports local people through the medium of sport and allows local businesses to give back to the community.”

“Norfolk should be very proud of The Nest.”
